It would seem to be a reasonalbe assumption that if you use Blogger or have a blogspot.com account that your posts will get indexed faster and ranked better in the SERPS than if you were using Wordpress.
Well this is simply not the case. So long as you have good, original content you will get indexed and you will get ranked accordingly no matter what blogging platform you use.
However, where Wordpress has the edge in my view is the ability to totally control your titles, and meta information. When you include permalinks management you have quite a powerful SEO advantage. Plus you have no limit on how many blog directories you can ping to (unlike Blogger). This is a big bonus because if you can ping more sites, there’s more of a chance to get your content indexed. Simples!
Here’s a pretty good list of ping sites you can add to Tools>Writing and scroll down to ‘Update Services’ in your Wordpress admin:
http://rpc.pingomatic.com
http://www.blogpeople.net/servlet/weblogUpdates
http://ping.myblog.jp
http://ping.bloggers.jp/rpc/
http://bblog.com/ping.php
http://api.moreover.com/RPC2
http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2
http://ping.weblogalot.com/rpc.php
http://ping.feedburner.com
http://ping.syndic8.com/xmlrpc.php
http://rpc.weblogs.com/RPC2
http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping
http://topicexchange.com/RPC2
http://xping.pubsub.com/ping
To keep up-to-date on the latest ping lists go to http://codex.wordpress.org/Update_Services
Anyone trying to find Update Services in Wordpress MU will be disappointed – its not there. However, its not all bad news. http://rpc.pingomatic.com is hardwired into MU and as this is definitely the big daddy of ping sites you are pretty much covered.
The Big Wordpress Bonus
The totally ultimate bonus to Wordpress is you can incorporate your blog inside your own web site. This is unlike Blogger where the best you can do is place it in a subdomain which is totally useless if you wanted the content to be counted with you main site.
So rock on Wordpress!
